WrestleMania 28 Predictions

Posted: March 30, 2012 by Rob Barros in WWE

WrestleMania 28 is just 2 days away! We know that this year’s Main Event is the “Once in a Lifetime” match between The Rock and John Cena. But, there are plenty of other intriguing matches this year, and I will make my predictions.

Diva’s Tag Match – Kelly Kelly & Maria Menounos VS. Eve & Beth Phoenix. (Prediction: Kelly and Maria Win)

With Kelly and Maria being the ‘faces’ of this match, it would be pretty easy to see them defeating Beth and Eve. Especially having a non-wrestler like Menounos beating someone like Phoenix, who claims to be “the most dominant Diva ever” and Eve who is trying to become a dominant Diva.

Kane VS. Randy Orton. (Prediction: Kane Wins)

I do see Kane winning this match, even though all signs are pointing to Orton winning. Right now, the WWE does not seem to have any other plans for these 2, and keeping this rivalry going for now could be the only thing to do until they do think of something. Kane hasn’t really done anything big since returning as the “monster”, unless you consider beating up and injuring Zack Ryder a few times, ‘big’. Who knows, WWE could have something ready to go right after Mania for both superstars, and Orton could end up winning.

Team Teddy VS Team Johnny. (Prediction: Team Teddy Wins)

The winning team’s GM will take over both Raw and Smackdown following WrestleMania. John Laurinaitis has made his team up of strong wrestlers who are pretty well known. His captain, David Otunga isn’t a huge name, but is still a strong guy and has been Laurinatis’ right hand man for a while. The Miz, Mark Henry, Dolph Ziggler, Jack Swagger, and even Drew McIntyre are all known names in the business. Team Teddy does not have the big name status, but is filled with all fan favorites. Captain, and current US Champion, Santino Marella, Kofi Kington, R-Truth, The Great Khali, Zack Ryder, and the surprise addition of Booker-T, who is the most well known member of the team. It would be great to see Team Teddy win with his team of “no-names” and take over control of both Raw and Smackdown.

Intercontinential Championship Match – Cody Rhodes (C) VS. Big Show. (Prediction: The Big Show Wins)

All Cody Rhodes has been doing lately is calling out the Big Show’s past WrestleMania failures. The WWE hasn’t done anything with The Big Show after having him lose the World Title in less than 10 seconds at TLC. This would also finally give the IC title to a new superstar after Rhodes has held it for what seems like forever. It is about time they change things up.

World Heavyweight Championship Match – Daniel Bryan (C) VS. Sheamus. (Prediction: Sheamus Wins)

This match has actually had some pretty nice build up. With Bryan’s ego going sky-high since winning the World Title at TLC, and Sheamus winning the Royal Rumble. It seems that there will finally be somebody to stop Bryan from yelling “YES! YES! YES!” everytime he comes out to the ring. This could end up being one of the best matches on the card with both guys being very good at what they do. Sheamus will try to over-power Bryan, while Bryan will use his submission skills to make Sheamus tap put. It would be great to see Sheamus as a champion again, and return to the top. Also, it would keep a pretty nice feud between these two going on for a little bit longer.

WWE Championship Match – CM Punk (C) VS. Chris Jericho. (Prediction: Chris Jericho Wins)

This match has been in the works for months now. With all the cryptic messages showing Jericho’s return, everyone knew this would lead to a Jericho/Punk feud, and eventually, a match at WrestleMania. Jericho came out and called Punk a ‘Jericho wannabe’ for calling himself the Best in the World, and has now come back to take back what is rightfully his (The WWE Title). The build-up for this match has gotten much more heated with Jericho calling out CM Punk’s family for the past few weeks, calling Punk’s father a drunk, his sister a druggy, and saying he’ll force Punk to drink for the first time. Plus, it would be great to see more of Punk vs Jericho following WrestleMania.

End of an Era, Hell in a Cell Match – The Undertaker VS. Triple-H w/HBK as Special Referee. (Prediction: Undertaker Wins)

There is a ton of speculation this could be match that Undertaker actually loses. With Triple-H saying he has to finish the job after failing to win last year. Also, having Shawn Michaels come in as the special referee would make it seem like HHH has the advantage. I would think they wouldn’t want to end the Undertaker’s streak at 19, when 20-0 has a much better ring to it. This will be a spectacular match and it should be going back and forth with fans wondering if Undertaker might actually lose, just like what happened last year. But, could Triple-H actually end the streak?

Once in a Lifetime Match – John Cena VS. The Rock (Prediction: John Cena Wins)

As much as I want to see The Rock win, it makes much more sense for Cena to win. Just like what they did back in 2002 with the Rock, the face of the company at that point, defeating Hollywood Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania 18. It is almost an identical situation, with The Rock returning after a long time off to face the man who is the current face of the company. Even though that match in 2002 did not have a yearlong build up, the similarities are there. We know that The Rock will be making a new movie soon, and won’t be around the WWE every week, unlike Cena who will be there. Having Cena win this match will be just like it was having Rock win in ’02, to say he is the best. Even though there is no ‘heel’ in this match, it seems like Cena is the heel with a majority of the fans booing him week after week, while The Rock seems to have all the fan support. This match should end up being one of those long, and very un-predictable matches, after all, they spent a year getting it built up.

WrestleMania 28 is shaping up to be one the best WWE PPV’s in a long time, and it should be. I for one cannot wait to see all the action unfold LIVE in Miami!
